Janelle McMillan’s artworks and storytelling demonstrate her skill and determination to raise awareness about what it’s like to live with disabilities and communication challenges.
Janelle lives with cerebral palsy and is non-verbal, using a wheelchair for mobility. As an author, illustrator and artist, she uses her experiences to educate, inform and campaign for greater inclusivity and acceptance of people living with disabilities.
Janelle is a prolific artist and an even bigger fundraiser for many charities, using her design skills to raise thousands of dollars for causes such as cancer research. She also publishes children’s books to educate kids about what it means to be non-verbal, and campaigns to spread her message of understanding and acceptance.
Through her drive, energy and talent, Janelle is challenging perceptions about what it means to live with a disability, creating a space where people with communication challenges can be heard and making society more inclusive.
